HILLSBORO TRIBUNE PHOTO: DOUG BURKHARDT - April flowers are in bloom all around the Hillsboro area as the recent combination of mixed sun and rain along with mild temperatures has created ideal conditions for plant life. This colorful tulip garden was spotted in the 300 block of Northwest Jackson Street in Hillsboro. It remains to be seen whether the burst of color will turn the April showers bring May flowers adage on its ear this year. The Old Farmers Almanac predicts the average temperature in the city to be 57 in May -- 2 degrees above normal. And, the almanac says, the four-day period of May 19-22 should be very warm and turning hot May 23-26.
