Capital Bureau Reporter

The Pamplin Media Group is looking for an experienced journalist for its Capital Bureau in Salem. This position requires investigative and enterprise reporting skills as well as the ability to produce daily stories about the workings of state government. The Capital Bureau is a joint venture between Pamplin Media Group and the EO Media Group, so the successful candidate must be capable of working in a collaborative way with other bureau reporters and editors. The person who is chosen for this position will be a Pamplin Media Group employee, but will work most closely with an EO Media Group editor who is based in Salem. The Capital Bureau provides coverage of state government for 35 newspapers and for a subscription-based electronic newsletter. Requirements for this position include a bachelor's degree or higher, plus significant professional experience. Central Design Desk Chief

An experienced journalist is needed to replace our retiring CDD chief at the Pamplin Media Group, starting in September. The successful candidate must have significant newsroom management experience as well as knowledge of newspaper design.

Required skills include: the ability to design pages, fluency in InDesign software, a proven ability to manage employees, copy-editing and headline-writing skills and proven organizational abilities. The CDD chief will manage a staff of about six people who provide editorial design for a dozen weekly and twice-weekly newspapers, as well as monthly newspapers, special sections and other publications.

The successful candidate must be capable of working in collaboration with other Pamplin Media Group editors, publishers and department managers to meet multiple deadlines each week. Flexibility and grace under pressure will be key qualities required of the CDD chief in directing a very busy operation. Sports Writer

The Portland Tribune is looking for a part-time (approximately 32 hours per week) sportswriter to cover a variety of local sports for print and Web. Candidates must have strong reporting and interviewing skills, generate story ideas on an assortment of beats, be well-organized, take direction well and have a strong desire to provide in-depth, unique coverage to our readers. Candidates must be able to write news and game stories on deadline, and be creative in writing features and profiles. A good understanding of AP style and social media is necessary, as well as the ability to shoot sports photos. Work schedule can be somewhat flexible and depend on the weekly sports calendar, but the position will require work on weekends and on some nights.

Graphic Designer

The Pamplin Media Group has a current full-time opportunity for a Graphic Designer. The ideal candidate will have heavy publication design and ad coordination experience. Be able to develop, coordinate, oversee and implement comprehensive high-quality design and guidelines for directories, magazines, newspapers and other specialty publications. Duties include: maintain annual production calendar, serve as liaison between internal/external clients, writers, photographers, director of commercial printing and press throughout each project, and attend press checks as needed. Must work with a high degree of accuracy, effectively manage, design, direct and track multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure. Must be able to consistently establish and maintain harmonious relationships with a diverse range of clients, institutions, vendors and staff.

Required skills: thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator). Desired skills: Ability to write, proofread and edit communications, photography and photo-shoot direction, and integrated media (web) experience a plus.

Graphic Designer

The Gresham Outlook is looking for a full-time Graphic Designer to help design a wide array of newspaper advertisements and promotional materials. The ideal candidate should be fluent in InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator on a Mac operating system, and should be familiar with the four-color-press print media. Job requirements include the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines each week, the ability to work with in-house advertising representatives, the ability to work with a team of other designers, and have strong organizational skills. Help Desk Technician

Pamplin Communications has an opportunity for an IT Support/Help Desk Technician to provide service to end users within Pamplin Communications and its subsidiary companies. This position offers an individual to join a team ‘tearing down and building up’ a better practiced, standardized, customer service oriented program with lots of professional opportunity.

Typically taking initial telephone or email inquiries and troubleshooting them remotely in a Tier1-2 capacity, the Technician will also help support the hardware and software related to client devices such as workstations, laptops, tablets, printers and other mobile devices within a primarily Windows (300 devices) + Apple (80 systems) environment.

Supports hardware and software related to desktop and mobile computing devices. Answers questions and resolves computer problems for users via telephone, in person, or typically via remote control. Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots end-user workstations and related hardware and software. Assists in managing-administering applications such as a Service Desk ticketing system or system imaging and deployment (e.g. SCCM, Zendesk, WDS, Casper).

Successful candidate must have 2-3 years relevant technical support experience in a dynamic environment; a 2 year degree, A+, Network+, or Security+ certificate is desired. Candidate needs to be proficient in deploying, upgrading and troubleshooting Windows 7/8 in a network environment, have familiarity with Windows Active Directory user provisioning, general networking concepts and Apple OSX/IOS. Inquisitive problem solvers with excellent communication and customer service skills are highly desired!

Candidate must also have reliable, personal transportation, be able to lift at least 40 pounds and be able to work in, on or under confined-constrained spaces.

Salary commensurate with experience based on a range of $19.23 - $23.07 hourly, comprehensive benefit package including health insurance and 401(k).

Ross Island Sand & Gravel Co. has an immediate opening for a new position within our company for a Project Administrator in our Dredging Operations.

Ross Island Sand & Gravel Co. performs dredging and marine construction on waterways, lakes, channels, and bays throughout the West Coast of the United States. Projects typically last between two and five months, and will require the employee to remain on site during the project. While not active on a project, Portland, OR will remain company headquarters and projects will be completed here.

We are looking for an individual with business and finance acumen. This key position is responsible for:

  • Maintain and manage on-site project office.
  • Answer phones and assist with scheduling in relation to course of project.
